Signature Landscape Contractors was tasked with designing and implementing the landscape and hardscape for the Origami House, a stunning modern residence designed by OSA Studio. Located on a private peninsula, Twelve Oaks in Winter Park, FL, the Origami House was constructed simultaneously with a sister property, showcasing a bold architectural vision with its slate and corten steel exterior. The goal was to create an outdoor environment that complemented the home’s unique aesthetic while maximizing the potential of its small, distinctive lot.
Design Vision
The Origami House’s minimalist and geometric design inspired a landscape that evoked a sense of openness and natural harmony. Despite the constrained footprint, Signature Landscape Contractors crafted a serene yet powerful setting that gave the illusion of the home floating amidst an expansive meadow. The front yard design centered around a majestic character specimen oak, serving as the focal point of the front yard landscape. This striking tree was paired with whimsical, free-form ornamental grasses, carefully selected to create a dynamic, flowing effect that softened the home’s sharp architectural lines. Also driving the design was the incorporation of four unique commissioned art pieces within the landscape.
